Yin is a playable character in CyberVerse. She is a Generation 3 CyberCitizen.

Lore

With Cell-Merger tanks becoming commercialized, DNA manipulation births became the norm. One of the more renowned cases was the Chein Twins, better known as the “Yin Yang Sisters,” the first interracial twins, made with interconnection in mind. Yin was considered first born—Dark, Sensitive, Quiet, a woman who loved to listen and observe the world around her. She was marked with a Silver “Mod” on her left ear representing the Moon. Her twin sister Yang #4017 was the complete opposite—Light, Active, outgoing, a woman who loved to perform and draw attention. She, too, was marked but with Gold on her right ear representing the Sun.

Yin and her sister were like any other siblings in Cyberia, with the occasional argument or disagreement. But soon their values and personality differences grew. Arguments turned to fighting, and disagreements became divides, never meeting eye to eye—opposites in every way, one night, the other day; one cold, the other hot.

Yin hated the attention they got, always feeling more comfortable reading at home or wandering the streets of Cyberia at night. One particular night, she stumbled upon an old man writing by hand, bathed in Neon glow, staring up at the sky. She sat watching, seeing his brain tick with each pencil movement. Yin came back each night for a week before finally introducing herself, and much to her delight, he welcomed her, showed her poems he had been writing, and even read her a few, never realizing how beautiful words could be.

The old man taught her many forms of poetry, but most importantly, he taught her to write with her heart. So she did, venturing to that park every night, staring at the moon and writing. After months, Yin attended her first poem group at a local Holo-bookstore, sitting and watching, her stomach churning with nerves. She swallowed her doubt and stood, head down, and began reading. Halfway through, she felt something in the air, looked up to see her sister Yang standing in the corner watching, smiling.

The two of them caught up over a cup of Synthossa. Yin reluctantly let Yang read her poems. When she finished, she couldn’t stop smiling. Yang blurted out about a record deal—a chance for Yin to write the songs. At first, Yin was skeptical, doubting her ability, but after being pushed over and over, she agreed. And so the Yin Yang Sisters were born, the newest Pop duo in Cyberia. They began work in the studio above the record store—Yin wrote while Yang was the lead singer. Once the album was released, they were thrust into fame, performing at nightclubs and festivals.

As fame grew, so did their differences. Even though she loved writing songs, Yin hated the spotlight, with eyes on her at all times. Adoring fans felt fake, like they could turn on you at any time—nothing like the deep relationships she craved. Shows kept being added to their schedule, with public appearances every other day. This wasn’t what she agreed to; she found herself wishing to be back in that park alone at night. Yin tried talking to her sister, but was shrugged off, told to stop being ridiculous. “Enjoy it; imagine how many people wish to be in your shoes.”

The sisters were invited to appear on “The Late Night Cyber Show” to promote their album. Yin resisted, pleaded with her sister for a break, but Yang used her love of writing against her. The infamous night arrived, with the sisters in their most glamorous outfits, including a fake smile for Yin. She almost made it through the entire show until the Q&A set her off, leading to an explosive argument. Yin revealed that she wished her sister would listen and respect her needs. As she looked into Yang's eyes, she saw no difference, so she stormed out live on TV, ending the duo.

Yin returned to her humble lifestyle, back to the Holo-bookstore, writing poems again. But something felt off; she missed the warmth of performing with her sister, watching her face fears head-on, and the way she could make thousands move just with her light. Yin lost her confidence, became isolated, and was forced to look within, realizing what she needed but feared it was too late.

Yin returned to the park one full moon, and much to her surprise, found Yang sitting in her favorite spot with two cups of Synthossa. The two sat in silence before Yang apologized for what she put her sister through, for not listening, for not being there for her. Yin gripped her in the tightest hug she could muster… Connected again as they were born to be.

Much like all things in nature, everything requires balance, and with the Yin Yang Sisters reuniting, they wanted to embody this balance not only in their music but with who they are. So, just like the ancient symbol, they decided to wear a piece of clothing representing the seed of the other within themselves—Yin wears White pants while Yang wears a Black vest. To this day, the sisters enjoy making music and performing. Nothing warms Yin’s heart more than watching the very words she has written be sung by her sister to thousands of adoring fans.
